Known for his hard hitting and provocative theatre productions multi award winner and prolific writer Paul Grootboom is back in the theatre circuit with his new South African play The President’s Man. Paul has produced cutting edge productions such as Cards, Rhetorical and Relativity to name a few – he is one of the most acclaimed theatre writers in the country.

In a dystopian picture of South Africa, an embattled top politician Alfred Kutu is trying to fight off allegations of corruption, cronyism and possible criminal charges by the National Prosecution Authority. He has the President, a struggle friend, trying to quash the charges and spin the bad publicity away. But they are fighting a seemingly losing battle as a determined Journalist together with a disgruntled former government employee move in for the kill. The power of democracy and State power come to a head and we are left with no clear winners in this philosophical theatre thriller that deals with South Africa’s political landscape in a fresh and gripping artistic style.

Twelve stellar cast of crème de la crème of South African acting talent will be led by acting Supremes, Molefi Monaise best known as Wallet in Skeem Saam – the Television Soapie. Molefi Monaisa, Zimkitha Kumbaca well known for her acting lead role in the e TV telenovela – Matatiele and Brandon Auret of Isidingo fame.

The shows are scheduled for 02 June to 25 June 2016 at 20:00 by the ARENA Theatre @ State Theatre.
