Since the legendary Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo tweeted a workout clip using music from the late Costa Titch’s “Ma Gang” featuring Phantom Steeze, Champuru Makhenzo, C’buda M Man T, and Sdida, Mzansi has been beaming with pride. A year ago, “Ma Gang” was made available as a part of the collaborative album “Trapiano, Vol. 1” by Costa and Champuru.
In the video, Ronaldo can be seen exercising at his house while wearing no top. He eventually starts dancing to the music. The remark from Titch’s regular partner Phantom Steeze was, “Thank you bro.” The use of amapiano sounds in an Instagram reel by a prominent athlete is not new.
Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time Formula 1 champion, gave the genre a significant boost last July when he utilised Musa Keys’ hit song “Selema (Po Po)” as the audio on a reel that detailed his time at the French Grand Prix. The description on the video read, “Whole weekend in one minute,” and it was shared online.
Ronaldo previously used the song “Jerusalema” by Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode from South Africa as the soundtrack on a post he made from a family event in 2020. In the message, he said that “life is better with your loved ones,” and he tagged his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, “Enjoy all the moments with love and happiness.”
