Preparation for the 2018 Dundee July horse racing is in full swing and Ithala Soc Limited this week confirmed its support for the event as its official banking partner. It is the first sponsor to renew its sponsorship.

Ithala’s support for the event on 21 July in Dundee includes R100 000 towards total stake money for the Ithala International Race which is one of two international events on the day. The field includes horses from as far afield as Botswana, Lesotho, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and the Eastern Cape.

In addition, Ithala will provide payment services for all winning jockeys and horse owners; an onsite ATM making it convenient for race goers to transact without having to leave the event to find cash securely and bank staff to ensure that pay-outs run smoothly.  Various other contributions including event marketing and a prize for the overall event winner that comes with a floating trophy are also being sponsored by Ithala.

Sandile Xolo, Ithala Soc Limited’s Marketing and Communications Manager said that negotiations with the KZN Department of Sport and Recreation (KZNDSR), under whose auspices the race is being held, had been productive.

“Ithala has been a Dundee July sponsor for almost a decade and we look forward to a continued mutually beneficial relationship with the Department of Sport and Recreation and the Rural Horse Riding Association,” said Xolo.

KZN DSR Director of Communications, Mr.  Thabo Mofokeng said the department appreciated Ithala Soc Limited’s ongoing support and proactive approach which showed they had confidence in the success of the Dundee July.

Other key partners in the Dundee July are the Endumeni and Umzinyathi Municipalities which have put their weight behind the success of the rural horse racing event.

“This is a unique South African event which is growing in popularity and stature and attracts thousands of spectators.  It provides an ideal platform for sponsors looking to market their products and I encourage other sponsors to come on board and help us grow the Dundee July into a must attend event,” said Mofokeng.
