‘Magaeng’ set to feature Khabonina Qubeka and other A-list celebrities

As Mzansi Magic debuts a new television drama series starring some of the top actors in the industry, prime time is about to get even hotter. “Magaeng,” which will premiere on July 10, attempts to captivate viewers by introducing the opulent Ndaba family in an intriguing plot.

The show, which will take the place of “Isifiso” at 8 p.m., features award-winning actress Khabonina Qubeka, seasoned actor Themba Ndaba, and Thato Molamu, among others. Zama Ndaba, played by Qubeka, serves as the series’ central character. Zama is a self-assured and aspirational woman prepared to join a well-known reality show and start her quest to stardom. She is determined to make her mark on the world and break away from the terrible history of her family.

With her teenage children, played by Kopano Mahlasi and Bonga Mhlongo, Zama takes the persona of Sheila while being placed under witness protection in a tiny rural community. The Ndaba family must adjust to their new low-profile personalities while remaining as a unit and avoiding previous threats. As the prospect of “blend in or be killed” hangs over them, the question is whether Zama can keep their cover. According to Shirley Adonisi, the director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, the programme has a unique and exciting plot that will keep fans riveted to their televisions.

Magaeng’ promises to be a perfect counterpart to the explosive reality shows that rule the weekdays with their faultless blending of drama and humour. We think viewers who want fascinating storytelling and engaging performances will connect with the programme because it reflects the diversity and richness of South African television. While Molamu portrays Thabang, the local police captain tasked with keeping the Ndaba family’s secret, Ndaba plays Bheki, Zama’s scheming and avaricious husband, whose life takes a dramatic turn as the police move in on him.

Along with the star-studded cast, “The Real Housewives” stars Tinah Mnumzane, Sdumo Mtshali, Kagiso Rakosa, Phupho Gumede, and Lethabo Mathatho make cameos. According to the press release, the “star-studded cast delivers exceptional performances, breathing life into the rich and complex characters and ensuring an unforgettable viewing experience.”

On Monday, July 10, at 8 p.m., “Magaeng” will air on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161).
