This intriguing storyline is centred on the extraordinary journey of Sibongile Mbambo (Luyanda Zwane), an innocent young woman from a rural area forced to leave her family and dreams behind in order to work as a domestic in the lavish mansion of the wealthy Dlamini family. Rhythm World Productions, known for producing fascinating dramas like “Umkhokha-The Curse,” is the brains behind this production. As stated in a press release Sibongile will have viewers experiencing an unexpected “Cinderella” tale in the shape of a forbidden romance.
“The burgeoning relationship transforms Sibongile’s life and impacts those around her, including her employers (the Dlaminis) and their enormous business empire,” read the press release. This work is based on the well-known Zambian classic “Zuba and the Solalas,” it is a narrative of triumph over adversity that is set in the little village of Ixopo, KwaZulu-Natal.
As they witness Sibongile’s ambition of pursuing a higher education crumble when her family’s financial difficulties compel her to choose a different path, viewers will be on the edge of their seats. Sibongile’s life takes an unexpected turn as a result of her stepmother Deliwe’s (Slindile Nodangala) gambling problems and the ensuing mayhem. The statement claims that the programme “promises to explore timeless themes of love, sacrifice, ambition and familial bonds.”
Shirley Adonisi, director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, called the programme an important milestone in their dedication to providing interesting and diverse local programming.
