Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, beams with joy after winning the Best Actress award at the Screen ATX in Austin, Texas. Screen ATX is a two-day independent film festival that takes place in Texas and features movies and TV pilots made by independent filmmakers.
Mlotshwa received the award for her performance as the mistreated nurse Grace Molotsi in the film “Four Walls.” She announced the news through a video on social media in which she is surrounded by her three dogs and wearing a warm yellow jacket. Mlotshwa expressed her excitement on this achievement to her 2.4 million Instagram followers, adding that she would have loved to attend the awards show and walk the red carpet.
“What a great pleasure to have won Best ATX actress for the movie/short series FOUR WALLS. Thanks to my producers, irectors, fellow cast and crew. It would have not happened without you… WE DID IT!!!,” she wrote on her instagram post. Kgosana Monchusi, Menzi Mzimela, and Juvai Dunn created, wrote, and directed the nine-part local television series.The film “Four Wall” sheds awareness on the issue of femicide and gender-based violence in South Africa.
Mlotshwa portrays the heartbreaking story of Grace, a smart lady who is trapped in an abusive marriage. When Grace makes the decision to end her husband’s life, two thugs (Khulu Skenjana) and Dice (Jeff Jackson), who are fleeing a cash-in-transit robbery break into her home and kidnap her. Celebrities including actresses Winnie Ntshaba, Boity Thulo, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi, and TV producer and actress Connie Ferguson all left heartfelt congratulations on Mlotshwa’s post.
