Sensational South African a-capella group THE SOIL will kickstart 2017 and a new Kaya FM 95.9 Bassline music series by performing live at The Lyric at Gold Reef City on Saturday 4th February 2017.
Soweto’s pride and joy, The Soil hardly need any introduction to South African music lovers and already enjoy a hugely successful career that has taken them all over the globe. They were recently in the headlines when their new album ‘Echoes of Kofifi’ shot to Gold sales status (that’s over 20 000 albums sold) in just 3 weeks after its release.
Signed to Native Rhythms Productions, The Soil is set to deliver an epic home town celebration on Saturday 4th February and a perfect way of introducing the new incarnation of The Bassline – Bassline Live.
Bassline, the iconic music venue that closed its doors in Newtown in December 2016 is undergoing a brand facelift and becoming a full service live music industry business and will hit the ground running with this debut show. MD Brad Holmes had this to say; “We couldn’t be more excited to start this new chapter in Bassline’s history with an incredible act live at an amazing new venue and with support from our valued partners Kaya FM 95.9, Old Mutual and South African Breweries.”
Kaya FM’s monthly Live @ The Bassline series begun in August 2015, and saw a glittering array of South African music stars grace the legendary Bassline stage. Bassline’s closure meant that the series had to find a new home, and The Lyric at Gold Reef City was the natural choice. With a world-class theatre on board, Kaya FM continued the partnership with Bassline Live to produce a monthly series that will run throughout 2017. “We are looking forward to seeing the series evolve and continue the promotion of South African music and empowering local talent,” says Greg Maloka, Kaya FM Managing Director.
Presented by Kaya FM 95.9 and Bassline Live, the show will be proudly supported by Old Mutual as exclusive financial services partner. South African Breweries will also partner with Bassline Live for this show.
Tickets available from Computicket for R180, or at The Lyric at Gold Reef City box office at R200.
