In what appears to be the satirical talk show’s final season with the South African comedian as host, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah took home seven trophies at the 27th annual Webby trophies on Monday night. The Webby Awards are the most prestigious international ceremony honoring online excellence.
Numerous accolades have been presented to Noah’s Daily Show team for their social media presence and specific segments, such as the humor in the America’s Door Problem segment where Noah advocates for gun regulation and criticizes lawmakers’ reactions to major shootings. In addition, Noah received the Best Web Personality/Host award for his Between the Scenes section, where he frequently discussed South Africa and his family. The well-liked section was also named Best Content Series.
“Wow, what an honour! Thank you!”, tweeted Noah on Tuesday morning with a picture of the seven trophies.
In September, Noah revealed his unexpected departure from the talk show. After serving as host for seven years, he bid an emotional farewell on his last day at the helm on Thursday, December 8. The actors of Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as well as musicians Rihanna, Lizzo, and Doja Cat also received recognition at the Webby Awards.
