The Estate, an award-winning daily drama on S3, will take a break at the end of its third season in July. However “Dynasty”, a popular international drama series, will be replacing it.
On August 4, “The Estate” will air its final episode. The local soap opera made its television debut on S3 in 2021 and distinguished itself for its plot, which focused on contemporary themes like land, politics, and the governance crisis. The television drama series’ suspension was announced by the station in May.
Starting on August 7, 2023, “Dynasty” will take over the S3 prime-time schedule on weekdays at 7 p.m. The feud between the Carrington and Colby families is the centre of this famous soap opera.
“S3 is very excited to bring the new version of “Dynasty” to the South African linear television viewing audience. We continue to bring quality international content to South Africans that don’t have access to pay services.”
“The series is the first to market within the linear television space in the country. ‘Dynasty’ promises to take audiences through an entertaining emotional journey of power struggles, back stabbings and entanglements”, David Makubyane shared.
‘Dynasty’ was previously aired on Netflix streaming service, and now S3 viewers will be introduced to the powerful billionaire Blake Carrington, played by Grant Show, his beautiful and ambitious daughter Fallon Carrington, played by Elizabeth Gillies, including the misfit of the affluent and traditional family Steven Carrington, who is portrayed by James Mackay.
