Storyline
Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.
#MM RECOMMENDATION
what a film! What a lovely, lovely film! Every minute, every second was nothing but pure entertainment and cinematic glory. Civil War doesn’t quite recapture the wonderment and sheer awesomeness of the Avengers, but it comes very close – however, it is ultimately the superior film.
Sporting what is arguably the best action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America is a non-stop thrill ride. The airport scene (as corny as it may appear in teasers) is one of the best action scenes to grace the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the way it is choreographed and filmed is beyond spectacular. The sense of childish bewilderment and the rush of adrenaline that occurred during this scene was overpowering and i sat in awe for quite some time afterwards. Spiderman’s addition was also as imagined as spectacular as it played out.
The tone from Winter Soldier has been carried over into the heavily anticipated sequel and furthers the storyline in spectacular fashion. yes, as seen in the trailers, there are a lot of characters involved in this film. In past, this has meant bad news (Amazing Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Age of Ultron) but not in this instant. However, each character is given their due; seamlessly tied into the story and each receiving adequate screen time and narrative.
However, as in tradition with most Marvel films – the villains are extremely poor. Marvel seems to have consistent issues in producing decent villains, and this is by no means an exception. However, it is a minor component of the film and is wholly forgivable.
It’s is exciting, tense, and an absolute blast of a time. For not one single minute was I bored or disinterested. As it stands, Captain America: Civil War may just be one of the greatest comic book movies of all time.
An enjoyable sequence and a watchable movie that is fit for every fan of Marvel comics and the average thrill lover.
