Following Blaq Diamond’s Court Victory, Ambitiouz Entertainment Is Considering Other Legal Options

Following a recent court order against them, independent record company Ambitiouz Entertainment is looking into its legal options. The record company is prohibited from removing the award-winning music duo, Blaq Diamond’s YouTube channel and music from all other digital streaming services by a court order that was granted in their favor. Blaq Diamond consists of Ndumiso Siyabulela Mdletshe and Siphelele Mbongi Dunywa.

“In light of the court order, Ambitiouz Entertainment accepts it with the utmost respect and will comply accordingly. However, we would like to inform our valued supporters that we will be diligently exploring the available legal avenues to appeal the judgment,” said Ambitiouz Entertainment founder and CEO Kgosi Mahumapelo in a press statement. “We believe it is important to exercise our right to respectfully challenge the decision and seek further clarity,” he stated.

Additionally, the record company is prohibited from bringing ownership or copyright claims against the duo’s works which dates back from June 15, 2022, and beyond. The company is also liable to cover the legal fees for the two parties including the application costs. However, Ambitiouz Entertainment will continue to assert copyright and ownership claims against works written by Blaq Diamond before June 15 in accordance with the court’s ruling. The song Qoma is also included in this.

Mahumapelo continued by saying that they are dedicated to resolving the conflicts within the bounds of legal procedures. “On a more positive note, we are pleased to announce that new unreleased music by Blaq Diamond will be coming soon. We are excited to share their talent and creativity with the world once again,” he stated further.

Attorney Jade Louella Naidoo described the interdict as “an industry game changer” when she shared the good news of the interdict, which was in favor of her clients, on Monday. She remarked, “This is for all musicians who are being taken advantage of by record labels.”

The duo announced the”incredible news” in a video posted to their social media. “When we released music, our former record label would attempt to get it removed from YouTube. We came back with a W, with a win,” they proclaimed. “This is a game-changer for the music industry, especially for all those artists who signed contracts that are not fair.”
