Kelly Khumalo dropped from concert line up amidst Meyiwa trial controversy

In light of evidence linking Kelly Khumalo to the football player’s killers in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, music festival organisers have removed the singer from an upcoming Women’s Month concert.

The singer was set to perform at the annual Tribute to Women festival in Johannesburg. However, it is understood that the terrible Meyiwa trial testimony has outraged many ticket buyers.

A phone connected to Khumalo received calls from a number connected to an alleged hitman, Fisokuhle Ntuli, months before her partner was killed. That is according to a testimony given by mobile analyst, Lambertus Steyn.

Although there is no evidence linking Khumalo to any crimes, the concert’s organisers claimed that they had chosen to protect the festival’s integrity and give the artist some time to process the implications of the murder trial. On Tuesday, the event’s organisers for the fifth edition stated that removing Khumalo from the festival did not imply that they thought she was guilty. They pointed out that Ms. Kelly Khumalo is innocent until proven guilty, and that they respect the legal system.

Moses Mabasa, an investigator and mobile analyst, is the state’s fifth witness at the Pretoria High Court. Social media users have stated that the award-winning performer should not perform until the Meyiwa case is resolved. Eight years ago, Meyiwa, was shot in Vosloorus. Five men are currently on trial at the Pretoria High Court for this murder.
