Dineo Ranaka has experienced quite a difficult year. Just two months after admitting she had severe chronic depression, Kaya FM fired her as Solomzi “Sol” Phenduka’s co-host of the morning show.
Adding salt to the wound, the radio station has now recently announced her replacement. Azania Mosaka, a seasoned radio broadcaster, will reportedly be joining Skhumba Hlophe and Thomas Msengana’s afternoon drive duo at Kaya FM. Exclusive information from indicate that the new arrangements will be effective this coming September.
Radio is nothing new to Mosaka. She has more than 20 years of broadcasting experience in both radio and television. As the host of the “Route 326” afternoon drive show in 2001, Mosaka got her first start at Metro FM before switching to the morning show. She has also worked as the host of SABC3’s “Real Talk” for quite some time.
Mosaka is the first woman in South Africa, according to Wikipedia, to have hosted both drive programmes and a commercial radio station’s breakfast programme. Earlier on, Ranaka used social media to tell her supporters not to feel bad for her after learning that she had been sacked from her job. “So I just got fired from Kaya FM. Interesting season of my life. So what’s next, Dineo?” she wrote.
Unexpectedly, the radio host later revealed that she will be starting her own podcast, titled “S*x ‘n Stuff.” She continued by saying that the Podcast and Chill Network would be the home of her podcast. On Tuesday at 3pm, the programme broadcasts live on YouTube and Spotify.
