Tems in Robert Wun

The Met Gala which is famously known as the annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York, was held last night. This event saw guests dressed up according to the theme of the night which was Karl Langerfeld: Line of beauty. This theme was to honour the life and work of the late fashion designer, Karl Langerfeld who was an international fashion icon thanks to his cutting edge approach to style.

In attendance of the event were some of Hollywood’s biggest megastars, however it was absolutely inspiring to see some of our African celebrities on the carpet. Amongst many of them were Grammy Award winning Nigerian artists, Tems and Burna Boy. The two embraced their heritage and made commendable cultural statements with their unique fashion choices. Tems had heads turning in her Robert Wun dress that had a flowing regal white finish at the bottom and was paired with a black corset-like top. This outfit perfectly balanced elegance and edge. Burna Boy appeared at the event in a black and blue checked outfit which was completed with a cape material flowing behind him. The outfit embraced confidence and edge.

Regular attendee and South African comedian, Trevor Noah was also spotted at the Met Gala 2023. He arrived in an outfit which symboled classic and contemporary, paired perfectly with a fresh set of cornrows. Nigerian-British rapper Skepta and Ghanaian-British rapper Stormzy were also there. The two brought stylish and bold to the Met Gala 2023 and represented themselves quite well. These African celebrities not only had jaws dropping, but they also highlighted glitz and glamour with their unique fashion choices.
